Shannon White RTS RAD

Shannon WhiteMrs. White is a graduate of the Royal Academy's Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) and is a registered teacher with the RAD. She holds her Advanced 1 certificate in Classical Ballet from the Royal Academy of Dance.She is a graduate of the Island Dance Academy and has studied RAD, Cecchetti, and Vaganova styles of ballet as well as modern, jazz and lyrcal.

She has performed and danced with the Charlottetown Festival's (Anne) and the PEI symphony's (Nutcracker) as well as numerous trade shows and promotional events with Tourism PEI. She has performed in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Canada Games. Her choreograpghy has won top awards in many competitions.

Mrs. White has developed the IDA'S cirriculum for jazz, lyrical, broadway and body conditioning. 

Mrs. White will be teaching ballet, pointe, jazz and broadway.

Martha Nicholson ARAD ATD RTS

Martha began her early training at the age of 8 in Charlottetown, PEI. She began her professional dance training at Ryerson, graduating from the dance program in 1976. After Ryerson she continued her training at the Banff School of Fine Arts and The Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s Professional division. In 1977 Ms. Nicholson began teaching at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and remained with the organization until moving to Charlottetown in 1993 when she established the Island Dance Academy. She holds her Advanced 2 RAD executant certificate, ISTD Advanced Modern and National certificates, as well as the Advanced Teachers Diploma from the Royal Academy of Dance. Her students have gone on to train and perform with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the National Ballet of Canada, Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers, Ryerson and Confederation Centre’s Young Company. In 1998 she was appointed to the Board of Tutors of the RAD. As a Tutor, Ms. Nicholson trains teachers across North America as part of the RAD's teaching program. Ms. Nicholson is a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).

Yvonne Li

Yvonne LiMiss Yvonne began her early training in Chonqing, China at the age of 6. She holds her Level 7 examination with the Bejing Dance Academy. While in China she created a dance club at Guangya IB School and taught there from 2008 - 2010. In 2010 Miss Yvonne moved to PEI to attend UPEI where she optained her BA.

Miss Yvonne holds her Advanced 1 certificate from the Royal Academy of Dance and is currently in her 2nd year of the RAD's Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies. 

Miss Yvonne will be teaching the junior ballet classes.

 

 

Linden Robinson


Linden is a graduate of Island Dance academy and holds her Advanced Foundation Certificate in Classical Ballet with The Royal Academy of Dance. She has been teaching Step dance locally for many years and has been competing at a regional level winning numerous accolades. Linden has also obtained her certification as a BATD, British Association of Teachers of Dance, Associate member.

Linden looks forward to sharing her joy of performing and bringing Step Dance to the IDA family.

 

Fiona Clancey


Fiona Clancey has been training with Island Dance Academy since the age of 3 and holds her Advanced Foundation Certificate in Classical Ballet with The Royal Academy of Dance. She has most recently performed with the adult cast in The Guilds, Anne and Gilbert and has also performed with The Charlottetown Festival. Fiona has also trained with The Quinte Ballet School of Canada as well as Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick, Massachusetts.

Fiona will be joining the artistic faculty at IDA as a junior jazz and ballet instructor. As well as teaching she will be working towards her CBTS, Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies, with The Royal Academy of Dance. Fiona is excited to get started and to share her passion of performance and dance with her students.

 

Allyson Ford


Allyson has been dancing with The Island Dance Academy since the age of 3 obtaining a wide range of knowledge in such styles of dance as, Ballet, Jazz, Broadway, Lyrical, Pointe and Step Dance. She has been training at an intensive level for several years as well as completing RAD, The Royal Academy of Dance, examinations in Classical Ballet. As well as training Allyson has been an assistant teacher with IDA for many years.

Allyson has been training and performing for most of her life and has performed in many shows such as The Guilds Anne and Gilbert, Evangeline. The Charlottetown Festival's Anne of Green Gables and several Christmas Productions. She has also won numerous regional competitions for Step Dance.

Allyson will be joining the artistic faculty at IDA as the Creative 3 and Creative 4 dance instructor. Allyson cannot wait to get started and see all the new and returning dancers this fall.

 

Erin Cusack L.C.D.T.A., B.Sc., M.A.

Originally from Halifax, NS, Erin joins the Island Dance Academy (IDA) faculty with over 20 years of experience as dance educator and choreographer in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Contemporary. She is a graduate of the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts (MCPA) Dance Teacher Training Program and is a Licentiate in Ballet, Jazz, and Tap, and an Associate in Acrobatics with the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association (CDTA). Erin was the former Artistic Director of Dartmouth Dance Academy and Footsteps Dance Team, and faculty in the MCPA Pre-Professional and Dance Teacher Training programs.

Many of Erin’s students have gone on to train professionally with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Peridance Capezio Center, Ballet Jorgen, Toronto Dance Theatre, Alvin Ailey, Ryerson University, and York University to name a few. Erin currently serves as the Vice President of the CDTA Atlantic Branch and is a member of the contemporary dance company Nostos Dance Collective.

With a B.Sc. and M.A. in Health Promotion, Erin is highly trained in anatomy and injury prevention and believes that strong technique, healthy bodies, and open minds are the foundation of dance artistry. Erin is excited to join the IDA team and share her holistic and inclusive approach to dance, health, and life with her students.
